I'm Kalos Aeon. I've been around for longer than you could know - and most people don't want to know me, being half-demon, and all - but right now I've got a big f'in problem.
A woman just came into my office, and I gotta say, from the photo she slipped me, someone's got a serious issue with the supernatural.
Life expectancy is looking kinda low if I don't figure out who's kidnapping magical creatures, selling their blood and trying to reveal magic's existence to the mortal world. Last time that happened it didn't end well. I'm not optimistic about this time, either.
Joke's on me, anyway, for setting up a magical salvage and retrieval business. 50% of an item's magical essence and a per diem can't cover the damages this job is gonna inflict.
Money and magic aren't of much use to a dead man. And If I didn't have a code (yes, I'm a demon with a code), then I would jet out of Texas faster than a vamp at a sorority party (you don't want to know).
But I agreed to the gig, she paid the cash, so I gotta see it through.
Did I mention the super-powerful wiccan - who I used to have, ahem, relations with - just returned from a long hiatus in a place worse than hell? And she's still obsessed with finding a certain god's spear that I may or may not have.
Seriously. This situation is code red. I'm almost willing to accept help from wizards. On second thought, no wizards. I hate you guys. I'd rather die.
So um, if I don't make it through the next three days, anyone want a talking dog that's read too much for his own good? Because the way things are going, Argos is gonna need a new home after the spells stop flying...*
*His only request is that you suck less than Odysseus. Apparently the epic poems got that all wrong, and that guy was a major asshole. Or my dog might just be bitter. Tends to rub off when you live with a demon.

I liked this book. It was a good read. The build up was nice. Sometimes it tried to introduced a little too many side storylines. ** SPOILER ALERT ** It doesn't end. It leaves you hanging. To introduce so much then nothing is just mean. I hate 2 parters and major cliffhangers. When you tell me a story, tell me the story. Don't give me half stories. Like I said, minor omit are OK like back stories or romance but major cliffhangers just suck. That's my take on the story. Enjoy.Product details

Demon Rogue The HalfDemon Rogue Trilogy Book 1 edition by DN Erikson Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
i have been waiting for a successor to Harry (since Butcher seems to be getting tired of writing about him) and Atticus's voice has been getting drowned out by too many other voices lately........this one would do........this one would do nicely. Looking forward to the next one
I had high hopes for the book. It sounded good but didn't live up to the blurb about it. For a first book there was a whole story left out. There's no way I would pay money to read a second book. Very disappointing.
Kalos Aeon is thousands of years old and a half-demon who just wants to keep living in the light. To help manage his more destructive nature he lives by a strict code. Don’t screw anyone over who doesn’t deserve it. Always complete the job you were paid to do. And never make a promise you can’t keep. As a magical retrieval expert he hunts down objects of power in exchange for a fee and half of the objects magical essence. I found the story unique and well worth reading. Kalos is an engaging character and you really want to see what he’s going to do next. With a secretive client, hostile police, an angry powerful ex and her demon lover on one side and the dark and light magical councils on the other Kalos is stuck between a rock and a hard place. It is going to take some out of the box thinking to keep to his code and not give in to his more destructive nature. I would like to have seen more world building. You don’t really get any back history on anyone and are only given snippets of information at points to explain who the characters are and how the magical world works. In spite of that the world is interesting and the story moves at a good pace. I really hope we get to learn more about the individual characters in future books. Especially the vampire best friend and Argos. An enjoyable read and a good addition to the genre. I look forward to the next book.
How is it possible for one half demon to get himself into so much trouble with both immortal and mortal adversaries in only a matter of hours? Kalos just seemed to have a knack for it and it gave this story so much flavor I couldn't stop reading it. To Kalos it was all in a days work. He didn't let the fact because he was also half human stop whatever was thrown at him. You have to read this so that you can smile at the antics, plus he doesn't get the girl.....this time around.
The story was entertaining and intriguing. I rather enjoyed the character Argos and still would like to hear his story separately about how he became a dog and who he was before all that - maybe in a novella. The story did a good job at introducing all the rules and non-rules for magic use as it progressed explaining the consequences and rewards. The author created a world not quite like other supernatural novels I have read but relatable in some ways while remaining unique. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
This is a review of the first book in the Half-Demon Rogue Trilogy. The box set of 3 stories is also available and I would recommend purchasing that to get the entire thing.
Kalos Aeon is a half-demon salvage retrieval specialist. He was approached in a parking lot by a woman looking for a PI. She had a dangerous assignment. She had a picture of an animal carved up and dismembered for its magical essence. The body, regardless of whether dead or alive, had to be retrieved. Something out there was going to be getting way too powerful soon and would put the entire supernatural community in danger! Then she placed a talisman on the desk that had Kal freaking out!
Kal is a different kind of hero, not terribly organized, not always using common sense, not really prepared properly for the things he faces in his chosen profession. But there’s something about him that makes the reader like him. The other assorted cast of characters are also very different and interesting. The underlying humor throughout the story keeps it interesting and drives the reader forward to see how things are going to turn out. Sometimes it’s irritating and sometimes not, but I think it’s a good read and I’m glad I have the box set to enjoy.
Demon Rogue (The Half-Demon Rogue Trilogy Book 1) ...was looking at reviews, only after reading the book, as always, and not quite sure why some were complaining it had a 'cliffhanger' or that if they had known..as part of the title it is called trilogy, which means 3 parts. This, and the other 2 parts, are available on kindle unlimited, although must have gotten this one during a freebie day.Was there maybe some flaws, to me, in the writing; yes a couple, but overall not enough to take a star off or anything. Did others find flaws? Evidently, to them, and that doesn't matter to me.
Demon Rogue (The Half-Demon Rogue Trilogy Book 1) to Blood Frost (The Half-Demon Rogue Trilogy Book 2) on to Moon Burn (The Half-Demon Rogue Trilogy Book 3) with the 3 set making it easy for no cliffhangers just get this one, or get them separately and just read straight through.Bought some separately, then buy trilogy or get on ku, simple.
